Parents and scouts, the derby will soon be here! With Santa’s gift delivered by Cubmaster Chad Nagel or by purchasing a kit separately through the Scout Shop, work with your parents on getting your car ready to race! If you need ideas or would like to learn more about the history of the derby, you can head on over to http://www.pinewoodderby.org/ .
Here are the rules we will use for this year’s Pinewood Derby.
Pack 400 Pinewood Derby 2016 CUBS
Pack 400 Pinewood Derby 2016 OPEN Class
Date Reminders: March 31, 2016 for Trials and Weigh-In with the derby itself on April 2, 2016.
And just a tongue-in-cheek reminder for us parents: Please take the opportunity to share in the experience, but make sure your scout makes and owns the decisions going into their car. The race will mean so much more if they feel that they had/have ownership in it. Your scout should be responsible for designing and building their car, with your help and supervision of-course.
Just a friendly reminder that our Blue & Gold Banquet will be held at the church on Friday, February 19, 2016. There will be no scout meeting on Thursday February 18, 2016 however adults who would like to help set up are welcome to come at the usual time.
Thank you to everyone who has submitted pictures as there are now close-to 400 pictures in the slideshow!
An RSVP email did go out to those currently on the roster. If you were unable to RSVP by the requested date or are new to the pack, please contact the Cubmaster.
Scouts and family members are encouraged to dress up for the event! All scouts and adult leaders please wear as complete a class-A uniform as you have. Thank you!
“The purpose of the blue and gold banquet is to celebrate the pack’s anniversary, thank pack leaders and other adults who have helped the pack, and inspire the leaders, Scouts, and parents. Packs often like to invite former members and other Scouting or community leaders to take part in their blue and gold banquet.”
As mentioned on Twitter, Scout Sunday 2016 will be celebrated February 14, 2016 (for Pack 400) at Slate Ridge Presbyterian Church with services commencing promptly at 11AM. If you and your family choose come and demonstrate that a scout is reverent with us, please arrive at-least fifteen minutes early. Everyone is welcome!
Scouts please wear as complete a class-A as you posses. Parents and siblings please dress in formal attire if available.

Just a reminder that this Thursday evening (12/17) at the usual time (6:30P), Pack 400 will host its annual Christmas Celebration! Music, food and drink, fun and fellowship. Dens will engage in a gift exchange activity, so please bring with you an age-appropriate wrapped present (valued at at-least $10). We will then be on holiday break until January 7, 2016. See you there!
An email went out November 17 reminding everyone that we need your completed adult and youth registration forms by the December 3rd den meeting. These are internal unit forms and are not the same as the BSA registration forms you may have filled out; they are used to demonstrate membership to the council upon re-charter for 2016 and update contact information.
Along with the completed forms, annual pack dues should also be paid December 3rd. Newly registered scouts are exempt if payment was made in full during signups in September/October of this year. Please make checks payable to BSA Cub Pack 400.
Note that for Webelos II, your fees have been reduced to help cover the cost of transitioning to the Boy Scouts Troop which has its own separate annual dues.
Please make every effort necessary to get these turned in ASAP, as our recharter deadline is growing near.
I have attached the forms Chad sent for ease of reference.

It was great to see everyone at the Halloween party last night and we hope you all have a fun evening! Thank you to all the parents for bringing your scouts and their siblings out for the night and an especially big thanks to those who stayed afterward to help us clean up and return the church to the condition we found it. Have a happy (and safe) Halloween!
Parents and scouts don’t forget that our pack-wide Halloween party will be held today, the 30th of October 2015 at the usual spot! Slate Ridge Presbyterian Church, lower level, starting at or around 6:30PM! Siblings welcome and encouraged.
